Diesel/Gas Mechanic
This job requires the employee to make MINOR repairs on diesel trucks and trailers. It is imperative that this employee has received formal training with the proper certification or equivalent experience to be proficient at mechanical repairs. The mechanic must have the strength and agility to lift 40+ pounds and climb onto the vehicles for the purpose of diagnosis and repair.
This job also requires the employee to have computer skills and have their own tools.
Pay:
Hourly rate will depend on experience. $21-$28 per hour plus commission.
Schedule:
Flexible schedule, Monday-Friday, will include 1 weekend per month.
Duties:
Must have strong diagnostic skills
- Diagnose and make routine repairs and service both trucks and trailers.
- Replace parts and components when necessary to rebuild units at regular intervals.
- Inspects and tests equipment at prescribed intervals of time or usage or because of breakdown or malfunction.
- Inspects, tests, and aligns lights and wheels as well as maintains the electrical systems and controls.
- Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts. Replaces parts as required to maintain or overhaul motors, transmissions, clutches, steering devices, brakes and wheels, and hydraulic systems.
Experience:
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (preferred)
- Diesel or trailer repair: 2 years (required)
